Approached
down a long private drive, Wisteria Cottage is the epitome of style and
comfort. It has been lovingly furnished by the owners who live in the adjacent
house set within 3½ acres of grounds. The main house was built in the 1800s by
the Lisburn Mine Company and went on to be the local doctor’s house and surgery
in the 1900s. What was once the stable and hayloft has now become a delightful
detached holiday cottage, secluded from the owners’ home and with every
contemporary comfort. The ground floor is spacious and comfortable with a wood
burner for cosy evenings in the cottage. Both the first floor bedrooms have an
en-suite, with a walk-in shower. The cottage lies within its own fully enclosed
area, ideal for dogs or just somewhere to escape to - and you will find the
added luxurious touch of a hot tub to enjoy. An additional experience for
guests to enjoy is the complimentary use of a 10 inch tablet with subscriptions
to a choice of over 2000 magazines including popular publications, hobbies,
travel publications and The Times newspaper daily and at weekends.
Out and About…….
There is walking close by in the north part of the Ystwyth Valley,
and the nearby Hafod Estate is a picturesque landscape occupying about 500
acres of this valley, where there are also numerous walks. There are many
streams, waterfalls and rustic bridges to discover. At nearby Devils Bridge, first built by monks
in the 11th century, you can see where various scenes from ‘Hinterland’ were
filmed. From here you can take the Vale
of Rheidol steam train (the line was opened in 1902), which meanders through
the valley to the busy university town of Aberystwyth, with its Victorian
promenade and pier. Wisteria Cottage is
only 15 miles from Aberystwyth, and is a great base for visiting family and
friends studying at university.
A 30-minute drive will bring you to the very attractive Ceredigion coastline with its long, sandy beaches, some of which allow pets all year round. Or why not visit Llanerchaeron, and elegant Georgian Villa, or the ruined abbey of Strata Florida, originally founded in 1164. Other places include numerous gardens to visit many Mines and why not try the world’s largest Zip wire at Zip World two hours drive away also the home of Bounce Below and the Forest Roller Coaster.
This culturally rich landscape of west Wales is an excellent base from which to explore and take part in activities such as long walks, mountain and forest biking, kayaking, horse riding or walking. Or you can just get away and relax and unwind in the tranquil surrounding, where you can put your feet up by the wood burner and relish the beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Café/shop and pub about 530 yards, restaurant 4½ miles.
